Version 6.1 first look and look back
We are entering the release cycle of our eighth major software package in 4 years. The feature set of Vyatta has grown deep and wide in that time frame and the customer and community user bases have followed closely. I can remember the early challenges of delivering a stable routing code base that would handle a reasonable amount of traffic. Today we are running networks around the world and covering DSL to 10GbE edge routing. The solution now includes a comprehensive security suite, pllus we have added some significant features for new architectures like cloud and virtualization.  Since I am feeling a little nostalgic, I thought it might be fun for those of you that are adventurous to take a look back at Vyatta Version 1.0 iso image.  This is definitely not recommended for production use....enjoy!

 VYATTA VERSION 6.1 BETA AVAILABLE

We are pleased to announce the availability of Vyatta Release 6.1 (Larkspur) Beta software and its associated documentation.

This beta release is made available to allow a broad user base to test and evaluate the next major version of Vyatta.  While this release is not recommended for production use at this stage, users are encouraged to download, test and report any bugs, issues or errors.

  • Configuration Synchronization
    Configuration synchronization allows you to designate a master Vyatta system that can synchronize defined portions of the configuration with other, dependent systems—the remote standby systems.

    Vyatta is now offering the official Sourcefire / Snort VRT rule-base as a subscription service for customers to proactively protect systems. Using this service, customer systems will access updates to the Sourcefire VRT rule-base directly from Vyatta as new vulnerabilities are found.
