Vyatta Optimizes Virtual Networking on Citrix XenServer
Latest Version of Open Source Router, Firewall and VPN Software Delivers Increased Performance and Manageability in Virtualized Environments
Belmont, CA – 2009-09-01 10:57:24 – Vyatta, the leader in open networking and network virtualization, today announced that the next release of its open source router, firewall, and VPN software delivers optimized performance and provides full manageability in virtualized environments based on Citrix XenServer. The new release will simplify users' ability to secure and manage traffic in XenServer virtualization and cloud infrastructures by integrating XenServer Tools for integrated management system compatibility and improved performance.
In June 2009, Vyatta announced a strategic alliance with Citrix to deliver open network virtualization to cloud computing environments based on Citrix's Cloud Center Blueprints. In the Blueprints, Citrix and Vyatta showed how Vyatta could be used to provide virtualized network services between an enterprise data center and a remote cloud computing environment. Vyatta software also provides optimized drivers for VMware and open source Xen virtualization technologies and is compatible with Microsoft’s Hyper-V hypervisor.
"Virtualization is the cornerstone of every major IT infrastructure initiative and is key to the future of cloud computing," said Dave Roberts, vice-president of strategy at Vyatta. "The combination of Vyatta's latest release and Citrix XenServer provide a simple, cost-effective, and easy-to-manage path to building, securing, and managing a robust virtual infrastructure. Whether customers are creating virtualized, physical, or mixed environments--in the cloud or in local data centers--they can obtain the network performance and security they require and the cost savings they need."
Vyatta runs on standard x86 hardware and delivers a full set of networking features that allow customers to connect, protect, virtualize, and optimize their networks, improving performance, reducing costs, and increasing manageability and flexibility compared to proprietary networking solutions. Vyatta has been deployed by hundreds of customers worldwide in both virtual and non-virtual environments. The new release with optimized XenServer support will be available to Vyatta subscription customers only, starting in mid-September 2009. The features included in the release will also appear in a future release of the Vyatta Community Edition; see the Vyatta Community website for more information.
Vyatta will be exhibiting in booth #2518 at VMworld 2009 in San Francisco this week. For a limited time, Vyatta is offering 15 percent off all single unit and 25 percent off all multi-unit virtualization software subscriptions. For more information, go to http://www.vyatta.com.
