Vyatta Delivers VPN in Subscription Edition 2.0

Continued Advancements in Security and Performance for Enterprise-Class Open-Source Network Solution

San Mateo, CA – 2007-03-12 05:00:00 – Vyatta today announced the availability of Vyatta Subscription Edition 2.0. A commercially supported open-source networking solution, this release adds VPN functionality to the routing and firewall capabilities available in the previous commercial releases. Vyatta's Subscription Edition 2.0 is available as a software subscription with tiered service and support options, or as a pre-configured hardware appliance that can be easily dropped into a network.

"Vyatta has provided excellent performance, reliability, and security for our QuesGen application," said Michael Jarrett, founder and CEO at QuesGen, who is relying on Vyatta to ensure the security of the company's online medical application, simplify day-to-day management, and reduce network expenses. “Combining standard x86 hardware with Vyatta's great software and support enables us to deploy a high-performance, quality network solution at unmatched economics."

As an open-source solution based on standard hardware, Vyatta enables network administrators a clear alternative to the inflexible and costly hardware/software products from proprietary vendors. Vyatta's Subscription Edition 2.0 delivers the features, performance, and reliability of an enterprise-class router, firewall and VPN.

"For enterprise customers, VPN is an important and required feature. With enterprise-class features backed by commercial grade services and support, Vyatta's open source router/firewall/VPN offers a compelling cost reduction in comparison to proprietary solutions," said Matthias Machowinski, directing analyst of Enterprise Voice and Data for Infonetics Research.

"This release is an important milestone for Vyatta," said Kelly Herrell, CEO of Vyatta. "One year ago we introduced our beta release, and in the short period of time since, we have advanced our commercial product to the current 2.0 status. With this progress and the development of our customer and community base, we continue to deliver high-value features with quality services and support. Vyatta helps customers break free from the economic and technical constraints of proprietary networking products and leverage the structural economic benefits of open-source networking solutions."

Pricing
Vyatta's flexible subscription model allows enterprises to cost-effectively install the software on existing standard x86 hardware, or they can purchase the Subscription Edition preinstalled on a Dell PowerEdge system. Subscriptions start at $497, or $1,797 when preinstalled on PowerEdge hardware, providing the features and stability of proprietary routers at approximately half the cost.
