KeyMark Upgrades to Vyatta for WAN Edge
Vyatta Software Provides High-Performance T1 and LAN Segmentation Solution
San Mateo, CA – 2007-02-13 05:00:00 – Vyatta announced today that KeyMark, Inc., has deployed Vyatta as the company’s WAN border router and firewall solution. KeyMark made the switch after deciding to upgrade the company's existing Cisco 1720 router. The company needed a cost-effective, reliable solution that would connect the T1 line and multiple internal LAN subnets, each with multiple VLANs. The Vyatta Enterprise subscription delivered a high performance router and firewall at far lower cost than the equivalent Cisco upgrade, along with support and feature updates.
"We were upgrading our network configuration to better handle our traffic load and the existing Cisco router just wasn't up to the task," said David Nalley, IT manager. "I wasn't thrilled about paying a lot of money to upgrade to more proprietary equipment that could do what we needed, so I started looking for alternatives. Vyatta was able to deliver everything we wanted at a low cost. The subscription business model gives me full access to new features and functionality and the support has been fantastic."
The Vyatta OFR software features a complete router and firewall feature set and allows users to regain control over their network infrastructure by virtue of Vyatta's open architecture and flexible support model. Running on standard x86 hardware, or preinstalled on a Dell PowerEdge 850 from Vyatta, the software provides users a low-cost alternative to proprietary networking products. Subscriptions start at $497, or $1,797 when preinstalled on PowerEdge hardware.
