Datatrend Technologies to Integrate Vyatta Open-Source Networking on IBM Hardware
Leading IBM Integrator Joins Vyatta Ready Partner Program to Accelerate Distribution of Vyatta Open-Source Networking Software
San Mateo, CA – 2007-06-20 05:00:00 – Vyatta, the leader in Linux-based networking, today announced that Datatrend Technologies, an IBM Business Partner specializing in data center optimization for more than 20 years, has joined the Vyatta Readyâ„¢ partner program and will distribute Vyatta's open-source networking software as a fully integrated appliance using IBM System x and BladeCenter servers.
Vyatta combines router, firewall, and VPN capability into an integrated, reliable, and commercially supported software package, delivering twice the performance of proprietary network solutions at half the price. The combination of advanced, Linux-based, open-networking software and off-the-shelf systems from IBM delivers next-generation IP networks that offer flexible deployment options, an affordable upgrade path and the freedom to integrate applications as needed.
The Vyatta Ready partner program has created an ecosystem around the company's secure, open-source routing software solution, and accelerated industry-wide adoption. The program targets value-added resellers (VARs) and independent hardware and software vendors (IHVs and ISVs).
"Vyatta's software has enabled the industry's first proven open alternative to proprietary network products," said Charlie Cox, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Datatrend. "For customers, receiving Vyatta on IBM hardware provides a clear choice for openness with the confidence of a world-class brand. Through the fully integrated solution provided by Datatrend, Vyatta can meet a growing market demand for rapid and cost-effective network expansion and functionality growth."
Datatrend delivers Vyatta software on the following IBM servers in a variety of configurations: the IBM LS21 Dual Core Opteron blade server, the IBM HS21 Dual Core Intel Xeon blade server, the IBM x3550 Intel Xeon server, and the IBM x3250 Dual Core Intel Xeon server.
"Datatrend solutions will make it easier for our customers and other Vyatta Ready partners to build out networks cost-effectively," said Keith Hartley, Vice President of Worldwide Alliances at Vyatta. "Datatrend joins a growing list of impressive VARs, IHVs, and ISVs already participating in the Vyatta Ready program with the goal of making Linux-based networking solutions a standard in data centers around the world."
