Interop Las Vegas was a HUGE success!
This year was our 5th year at the show and our biggest by far. We are very proud to have been selected as the routing and security vendor for one of three collocation facilities supporting this year’s live InteropNet show network and to have such strong customer and community support. CTC to Distribute Vyatta in Japan
Vyatta has reached an agreement that will make (http://www.ctc-g.co.jp/en/) ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC) the first distributor of the Vyatta Network OS in Japan. Vyatta selected CTC based on its established partnerships with leading Japanese and international IT vendors. CTC will actively promote Vyatta products directly to data center businesses and service providers in the cloud and virtualization markets.

Cisco’s Poor Appeal
I (almost) cringed when I saw the news that Cisco was attempting to out-shout Gartner’s clearly presented research stating that the single-vendor network not only isn’t necessary, but in fact is the antithesis of a cogent IT strategy.

A recent article described how Cisco and Juniper can’t meet the needs of network engineers when it comes to accessing infrastructure for test & development outside of production environments.
The problem stems from the hardware-bound nature of the vendors’ business models. They can’t let the software escape into the wild; otherwise how will they make money? Genies that have escaped the bottle are difficult to put back in.
