Tradeshow season is upon us and Vyatta will be making some big noise this year. It all starts with Interop Las Vegas May 9-12 where we will have a huge presence from powering the live InteropNet show network to partner announcements, live demonstrations and a speaking session. From there we’re off to TIA in Dallas where will be demonstrating x86 routing and security performance in Intel’s booth. Then all the way to LinuxCon Japan and back to New York for Cloud Expo. If you are planning to be at any of these events, drop us a line at info @ vyatta.com, or stop by and say hello.
As always send questions, suggestions, ideas, wants, needs, gripes, etc. to feedback @ vyatta.com

NEW VYATTA APPLICATION BRIEFS

 |
With the launch of the new Vyatta.com website last month, we've added some new application briefs highlighting common use cases in the cloud computing and virtual datacenters. Use these one page sheets to quickly review Vyatta features, functionality and basic network diagrams. |
[[Virtual Firewall & Secure Gateway][http://www.vyatta.com/sites/vyatta.com/files/pdfs/Vyatta_app_virtualfirewall.pdf]]
The Vyatta Network OS enables a multi-layer security approach in the virtual data center, by delivering comprehensive network security in a single virtual package, deployable in any hypervisor environment.
[[Virtualization for Branch Consolidation][http://www.vyatta.com/sites/vyatta.com/files/pdfs/Vyatta_app_edgeconsolidation.pdf]]
The Vyatta Network OS provides the foundation for any best-of-breed consolidated edge networking solution by offering the industry’s most complete Layer 3+ virtualization optimized solution.
[[Multi-Tenant Cloud Security][http://www.vyatta.com/sites/vyatta.com/files/pdfs/Vyatta_app_multitenantcloud.pdf]]
Multi-tenant cloud security is a critical concern for cloud service providers and end users alike. The Vyatta Network OS is optimized to run in virtual environments to enforce security policies, and manages traffic in the same way that a physical router, firewall, VPN or intrusion prevention device does in traditional infrastructure.
[[Secure Cloud Bridging][http://www.vyatta.com/sites/vyatta.com/files/pdfs/Vyatta_app_cloudbridge.pdf]]
The Vyatta Network OS combines Layer-2 bridging and IPSec/GRE or SSL Tunneling functionality to deliver a cloud bridging solution that allows physically separate networks to securely communicate with each other over the Internet as if they were on a single Ethernet network.
See the [[Vyatta Resource Library][http://www.vyatta.com/solutions/resourcelibrary]] for these and more >>

VYATTA BLOGS

Using Vyatta as an on-demand alternative to traditional networking solutions helps get them there. After decades of assuming every network service required a physical device, Carpathia took the logical leap that said, “Oh no it doesn’t.” And with that leap they gain business advantage.
But we’re not ones to stand still; while Intel marched Vyatta relentlessly forward, we focused on the next-NEXT-generation of networking. It started with delivering our enterprise-class networking solution as a virtual appliance, then advanced to an innovative remote API to control the VMs, and then — the coup d’grace — offering it on a usage-based pricing model.
F5′s Lori MacVittle made an interesting post recently arguing the necessity for ASICs (as opposed to x86) in networking infrastructure. In short she argues that latency is a bad thing in networks and eliminating latency requires ASICs. – Here’s where we disagree…
I (almost) cringed when I saw the news that Cisco was attempting to out-shout Gartner’s clearly presented research stating that the single-vendor network not only isn’t necessary, but in fact is the antithesis of a cogent IT strategy.
