Job Summary
The Virtualization Software Development Engineer will be responsible for developing software features for the Vyatta product in the area of virtualization. This will encompass customizing Vyatta for various virtualization environments, as well as improving performance on, and ensuring optimal integration with those environments. The work will include in all phases of software product development, including design, implementation, testing and bug fixing.
The candidate should have an in-depth understanding of virtualization and IP networking technology and protocols. A zest for technology and a demonstrated ability to learn new things will be essential in this position, since the candidate will be working with an exciting combination of networking, security, cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
Experience and Educational Requirements
· MS/CS degree or equivalent.
· 4+ years software developmentexperience in the area of computer networking and virtualization.
· Experience using and developing software for one or more virtualization environment (VMware, Xen, KVM, etc.).
· Experience developing software for one or more flavorof Linux(Debian, Ubuntu, etc.).
· Experience developing user- and/or kernel-level software in the C programming language.
· Experience developing software using scripting languages (e.g.Perl).
· Experience using networktest equipment such as Spirent Test Center or Ixia.
· Thorough understanding of modern software development methodologies and processes.
Responsibilities
· Participate in product requirements reviews.
· Write Functional and Design specifications.
· Analyze requirements to develop designs that meet user needs; Develop, unit test and integrate features based on those designs.
· Integrate open source projects into the Vyatta system.
· Modify existing software to implement enhancements and fix issues.
· Work with the QA team to thoroughly exercise and test your features.
· Work with the documentation team to explain your features in detail to Vyatta's users.
· Record and track product defectsusing Bugzilla.
