Job Title: Technical Marketing Engineer

At Vyatta, Technical Marketing is a critical function that serves a key role in developing and evangelizing network and security virtualization best practices.
Vyatta software enables customers to rapidly build cloud services, migrate physical network infrastructure into their virtual data centers, and consolidate the branch office while maintaining compliance across the entire enterprise network. Vyatta delivers routing and security as a virtual network device, giving enterprises and cloud providers network controls at the hypervisor level. The result for customers is competitive edge from consolidated IT operations and near-zero hardware and provisioning expenses.
As the Vyatta TME team lead, you will work with sales, customers, and global partners to deliver concrete validation to marketing collateral, sales tools, and product definition initiatives.
Key areas where your contribution will be critical: demonstrating technical value and benefits to strategic customers, supporting messaging development and new feature planning, testing competitive products and features, and technical knowledge transfer. As a Technical Marketing Engineer at Vyatta, you will be working in depth with virtualization technologies that significantly change how large organizations build and deploy network security architectures, including server-class hardware and hypervisors, and virtual network devices that enable data center consolidation, VDI, and Tier 1 application virtualization across the distributed enterprise.
The Vyatta TMA is hands-on in networking but can also translate the impact of technical product aspects into business value. The ideal candidate relishes running lab tests and delivering solid presentations and marketing materials to be consumed by the field and channel.
Key Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of Layer 2/3 LAN/WAN networking -- IP switching and routing, dynamic routing protocols, 802.1Q, TCP/UDP , NAT, DNS/DHCP, IPv6, QoS
- Network firewalling, site-to-site and RA VPN, IDS/IPS, content security, authentication, data encryption and compliance
- Extensive experience with server-class hardware platforms and virtualization technologies
- Deep knowledge of cloud networking solutions and cloud orchestration applications, and common deployment scenarios
- Experience managing certification and 3rd-party validation testing
- Experience with RFC 2544 benchmarking and performance analysis using Spirent TestCenter
- Experience with network simulation tools
- Up to 25% travel, such as product launch events, customer visits, and industry events.
- Prior experience as a TME preferred
- Current Vyatta User a huge plus
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years in a technical role, such as Technical Marketing, Software Engineering, QA or IT.
- B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (M.S. or MBA highly desirable).
- Strong writing, communications, evangelizing and presentation skills.
- Prior examples of written work (such as whitepapers, test reports or deployment guides).
